Bonsoir a tous,
I don’t really watch documentaries.
The first time I heard of Yves saint Laurent was when I was watching a movie called The Beautician and the beast starring Fran Drescher and Timothy Dalton. (one of my favourites, cheesy yes I know, but what can I say I can’t get enough fromage)
Timothy Dalton points to his suit, and says ” You like? It’s Yves Saint Laurent, makes me more approachable”
Yes that quote did come from my memory and yes if I was telling you this story in person I would do the accent and impersonate him.
But I digress.
This all started with documentaries. I just watched a movie entitled L’amour fou, starring the iconic fashion designer Yves saint Laurent. I gotta tell you, it was so well done.
The filmmaker does a great job of showing you the man behind the design and present to us just that, a man.
A man who wanted to lie in a full bed, who was described as painfully shy but carried such charisma.
And who better to tell you his story than the one man who knew him best, his friend and lover Pierre Burge.
This story is so much more than just life on the runway, it talks about life itself and love.
Interviewer: Who is your favourite poet?
YSL: Pierre Burge
A la prochaine,
De moi, pour toi
