Bonsoir tout le monde

Travel is a huge part of my life. I think travel is good for the soul. It’s a great way to learn not only about yourself but about different cultures and customs. Its an amazing way to make new friends, to pick up a new language and most importantly to step out of our comfort zone. Personally, I need to get away at least once a year. It could be close by or across continents but I need to breathe new air. (if that makes any sense) Every year I try to visit somewhere different.

I would LOVE to visit Spain this year. Que rico! Here are my top 5 reasons to visit.

1. The Spanish language

Spanish is my first language, but listening to different spanish speaking countries speak is like relearning the language. It’s a new experience to hear the slang and the expressions, if you don’t speak spanish then hearing a new language must be exciting.

2. Flamenco Dancing

I would LOVE to take a flamenco class over there. It’s seriously on my bucket list. I’ve always had an attraction to Flamenco. It’s so passionate and full of power but grace as well. It’s beautiful to watch, to listen to and I can only imagine what it would feel like to dance it. Cue palmas =)

3. Food

Come on, you knew this was coming. Tapas, Vino, Paella. All the food you can eat each with it’s unique story and taste. I have to admit i’ve never actually had spanish food. See why I need to go? Your palate and mine will go on a spanish adventure.

4. Architecture

I am a huge fan of European Architecture. I could feel the history seep through the walls. I also really enjoy arches in buildings as well as detailing. I’ve never seen anything like the Spanish arches in the other european cities I’ve visited.

5. Birthplace of Pablo Picasso and Federico Garcia Lorca

These two men are my favourite artists. I could recite Lorca, and Picasso’s trajectory is unique. Picasso was born in Malaga and Lorca in Granada. Just knowing your walking the streets that could have been walked by not only these two greats, but all the spanish artists of the Golden age. I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it. Where’s my plane ticket?!

What would you add to my list?

I’m going to listen to some Paco De Lucia now =)

A la prochaine,

De moi pour toi
